Byron Bay – Where You Can Slow Down (And Maybe Take Your Shoes Off)

follow url When you say Australia, most of the people in my home country would imagine long sunny beaches and tanned surfers with blond curly hair and bare feet. And even though the reality is in most places a bit different, here in Byron Bay this image certainly comes alive.
Never ending strands of sand and ocean bursting with all the shades of blue. Wild waves and beautiful nature. And people from all over the world, surfers and hippies, as well as families with children and lucky pensioners. All of that and much more, that is Byron Bay.

here And we are lucky to have this beautiful beachside spot only couple hours drive from our current home in Brisbane, so when we got few extra days off, there was no question about where to go. And I fell in love with the chilled atmosphere of Byron straight after arriving. The town is only small and everything is in walking distance which was a very pleasant change for me (read country girl 🙂 ).

Of course I have to start with the beaches. Because even if you are not fiery about vanquish the surfs, you should pay a visit to one of the stunning beaches stroll through the fine sand and enjoy the nice ocean breeze.
You can actually walk along the beaches listed bellow to visit the trending binario Lighthouse (another must see at Byron Bay) by foot.

zim dating online Main beach is the most accessible one, being just few extra steps away from the centre of the town. It also has big parking allowing the visitors to take all their belongings easier with them (it can get tricky to carry your surfboard in a hand or on a bike, but even that is not unusual here). However, that also means that the beach is busy (but still beautiful) at all the times.

And it also provides free barbecues which just can’t be any more Australian. Barbie on the beach while watching the surfs full of dolphins (guess who was late with camera), well isn’t life just beautiful?

One of the most visited spots in Byron Bay for a reason. Because you can’t possibly ask for more photogenic spot around than this one. The lighthouse built in 1901 stands on the most easterly point of Australia’s mainland and it’s white shining surface can be seen miles away. Have a tour through the lighthouse and learn a little bit of it’s history or just admire the building and stunning views provided.
