Ok, this is definitely not a low carb recipe. But no one is perfect, right? And I still believe in the fact that fruit is better for us than some (artificial) sweeteners. In healthy amounts of course. I know that especially banana is super full of natural carbohydrates, so it’s not in my diet very often. But it also contains so many vitamins and minerals. And it’s nice to treat myself every now and then.
And that’s exactly what this Banana Bread (Paleo, Sugar-Free, Vegan) represents for me. Balance. Balance in my lifestyle when I’m not obsessed with every gram of sugar I eat and I enjoy some healthy treat when I feel like it. It’s my version of intuitive eating and food freedom. Because when I don’t forbid myself from eating anything, my choices are actually much better than if I have a feeling that something is not allowed (and therefore super tempting).
I know, beetroot brownies are nothing new. But have you actually ever try them? I found out that many of the recipes are just containing so many ingredients. And you could probably noticed that I like things as simple as possible. Minimum ingredients and minimal effort. That’s me. So I ditched few of the traditional ingredients and tried to create an easy, healthy and tasty version of the beetroot brownies myself. And after few attempts came up with these Beetroot Brownies which I’m finally very happy with. Because despite the fact that there is not any gluten, dairy or sugar included, they taste damn delicious. And don’t worry, no beetroot aftertaste. Just beautiful gooey chocolate goodness.
Easter is around the corner (even though some shops here in Australia started selling hot cross buns and carrot cakes already at the end of January!) and I’m starting to think what food to make this year. Because same as other holidays, Easter usually comes hand in hand with lots of food in our household. I love meeting with my family and friends over good food. But I also like to stay healthy and away from foods that are simply not worth it. And with the Easter goodies most of the times the store bought cakes and pastries are really really far from healthy and good for us. Which means they are not worth it for me.
I already said it here several times, but I just can’t stress enough about how my relationship with food changed over last few months. And how impressed I am by that. Mostly that I’m grateful to the Whole30 for this change. Yeah, I think I just need to say it few more times. But it’s funny because during the program I didn’t feel like there is a difference. I felt like I was already eating healthy before that anyway. Yet now, six months after, I wouldn’t even look at some things I used to eat before.
In my family Sundays are usually saved for a big family lunch. We would get together and spend hours talking and eating and simply having a beautiful day. The meal would almost always include some nibbles to start, then good healthy soup, hearty main meal and of course a dessert. And that’s why I chose this day to share a new dessert recipe with you guys. Because even if I am halfway around the world now, I’m always thinking about my family and amazing days like these. And all the good food we had together 🙂 However, as you probably noticed already, this blog is mainly about real food and healthy choices. So these Paleo Custard Tarts are no exception. They would make for a perfect treat after a Sunday lunch which won’t make you feel bad, because they are low in carbs, high in protein and also dairy free.

Actually it’s been a while since I posted any recipe. But after applying for the Partner visa and waiting for the bridging visas to start I’m finally allowed to work here in Australia. And I am actually finally working! And it feels great to have a schedule back in my life. But with a work schedule I just need to make a system in my personal time. So sorry for those of you who are waiting for the new recipes. I promise to do better in the future and spend more time on the blog again and post more often.
It’s been almost a month since my last post. I can’t believe that. Time went so fast. Well but I definitely got my lesson about planning the posting schedule better the next time. It’s not that I didn’t feel like writing. If you followed my Instagram or Facebook, you would know that I travelled a bit thru Thailand the last few weeks. And as much as I thought I would be able to write and post while there, it did not happened at all.

My paleo baked sweets suck. I mean not all the time, but there is definitely lot of trials and errors. Cooking is so much easier. Right? Without all the weighing and measuring… But fortunately sometimes my baking efforts would bear the fruit.
