Is it too early to start posting Christmas recipes? I hope not. Because I’m getting really excited. My first Christmas in Australia. However, I decided to share a Czech recipe today. Because I’m still going to stick to a few traditions even if overseas. So let’s start the holiday season with this Traditional Czech Potato Salad (Paleo, Whole30). And read a bit about the traditional meals below 🙂
If you are planning to visit Autthaya, you should hop on the train after and make one more stop in this small city near by. Lopburi is an ancient capital and actually one of the oldest towns in Thailand. It’s history going back more than 1000 years back. However nowadays it’s mostly known for a bit different reason than in the history. Lopburi is popular among the travellers because of the cheeky little monkeys sharing the city with humans.
I already said it here several times, but I just can’t stress enough about how my relationship with food changed over last few months. And how impressed I am by that. Mostly that I’m grateful to the Whole30 for this change. Yeah, I think I just need to say it few more times. But it’s funny because during the program I didn’t feel like there is a difference. I felt like I was already eating healthy before that anyway. Yet now, six months after, I wouldn’t even look at some things I used to eat before.
This recipe always takes me straight to my childhood. Because I just loved all the types of spreads and remoulades as a kid. Especially the ones with mayonnaise. Czech people would actually spread almost anything over their slice of bread. My husband still can’t believe how many different spreads, remoulades, relishes, pates etc. we have. But some of them can include quite some nasties, especially when store bought. Luckily that’s not the case with this homemade Celeriac Remoulade. I don’t have to remove it out of my diet even as a food conscious adult. Because it needs only few whole ingredients, actually making for a very healthy treat. Combine it with my Grain Free Pumpernickel Bread and light meal can be served in matter of minutes.
In the middle of the week you might be probably too tired to even think of cooking. But what about just something simple what would uplift your dinner to the next level? Something that would fancy-up even meals as simple as sausage and veggies? Yeah, of course it’s mayonnaise. Because mayonnaise goes with almost everything. The other option is hot sauce. Now I’m not sure which one I like better. But since I started this article as a recipe for Homemade Smoked Garlic Mayonnaise I might as well finish it.

Happy Monday people! I know, it’s a bit rainy here in Brisbane, not very happy. But I’ve got the solution. Because what can cheer you up better than a good hot soup on a rainy day? And if you follow my Instagram a bit, you will notice that I started a new little Monday tradition. Because the beginning of the week is usually when we have our days off. And as much as we both love cooking at home and working in hospitality, sometimes we like to relax a little from both and go out for lunch or dinner. We are still humans, right? Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that all of this and our love of Asian cuisine combined with my obsession with soups led to a thing I started called #phomonday.
In my family Sundays are usually saved for a big family lunch. We would get together and spend hours talking and eating and simply having a beautiful day. The meal would almost always include some nibbles to start, then good healthy soup, hearty main meal and of course a dessert. And that’s why I chose this day to share a new dessert recipe with you guys. Because even if I am halfway around the world now, I’m always thinking about my family and amazing days like these. And all the good food we had together 🙂 However, as you probably noticed already, this blog is mainly about real food and healthy choices. So these Paleo Custard Tarts are no exception. They would make for a perfect treat after a Sunday lunch which won’t make you feel bad, because they are low in carbs, high in protein and also dairy free.
I’ve already admitted here several times that I have a weakness for baked goodies. Especially bread of any kind. But now more than ever I am aware of what I’m eating and how often. And I am thankful for this awakening to the Whole30 I did this May. When I did the programme I had a feeling that nothing changed. But when I look back there is so many things that changed for me. Not only I am a bit leaner (nice bonus) and I have almost zero stomach aches (very usual for me before) but I know what I can afford and what is just too much for me. And I’m even more interested in nutrition than before. So yes, I would have normal bread every now and then, because I know that small amounts of gluten doesn’t upset me. But I also know that there is not much nutrition in those baked goodies. That’s why I made this Grain Free Pumpernickel Bread to accompany my favourite spreads. It’s full of Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fibre, protein and other nutrients and of course tastes great, especially when slightly toasted.
So I’ve just created the best meatloaf ever. Da Best! At least the best one I’ve ever had. Well, I had a feeling that combining cheddar, bacon and jalapeno can’t go wrong. But it ended up even better than I could ever imagine. I could just keep eating this thing. It’s so juicy with so many flavours, it almost feels like I’m cheating on the healthy lifestyle with a huge badass cheeseburger. Well, I do every now and then but at home I try to eat as healthy as possible. Because I still believe that the balance is pretty important too. Anyway, if you are looking for an easy recipe for the busy week days, this is it. You can make one big meatloaf and enjoy it for several days, just switching the sides. At least that’s what works for me.
