So, this might not be a typical Christmas dish. Not even back home. But it’s not so far from the Czech tradition either (in a way). As I already mentioned in the recipe for Traditional Czech Potato Salad, the typical meal at Christmas is fried crumbed fish and potato salad for us. But since I have a fish allergy there won’t be any recipe for the fried fish coming from me any time soon (sorry). Maybe I will figure out something with prawns or other shellfish which I can have. However in the meanwhile here is this simple recipe for Oven-Baked Coconut Chicken Strips (Paleo, Whole30, Low Carb). But how did I get from fish with classic bread crumb crust to a chicken breaded in coconut? I know, quite a jump forward. But there is a slight similarity.
Is it too early to start posting Christmas recipes? I hope not. Because I’m getting really excited. My first Christmas in Australia. However, I decided to share a Czech recipe today. Because I’m still going to stick to a few traditions even if overseas. So let’s start the holiday season with this Traditional Czech Potato Salad (Paleo, Whole30). And read a bit about the traditional meals below 🙂
In the middle of the week you might be probably too tired to even think of cooking. But what about just something simple what would uplift your dinner to the next level? Something that would fancy-up even meals as simple as sausage and veggies? Yeah, of course it’s mayonnaise. Because mayonnaise goes with almost everything. The other option is hot sauce. Now I’m not sure which one I like better. But since I started this article as a recipe for Homemade Smoked Garlic Mayonnaise I might as well finish it.
Did you ever try to make homemade mayonnaise?
Happy Monday people! I know, it’s a bit rainy here in Brisbane, not very happy. But I’ve got the solution. Because what can cheer you up better than a good hot soup on a rainy day? And if you follow my Instagram a bit, you will notice that I started a new little Monday tradition. Because the beginning of the week is usually when we have our days off. And as much as we both love cooking at home and working in hospitality, sometimes we like to relax a little from both and go out for lunch or dinner. We are still humans, right? Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that all of this and our love of Asian cuisine combined with my obsession with soups led to a thing I started called #phomonday.
Weekend is almost knocking on the door and for those lucky of you it means a well deserved time off. I will save myself this privilege for Monday and Tuesday. Which is actually a really great time to be off as there is less people everywhere. Which really suits my introverted self. However, back to the weekenders. I’ve got a great recipe for you to try this weekend for Kangaroo-Beef Burgers. Because it looks like I’m adapting to the Aussie lifestyle slowly. Well, certainly when it’s about food and BBQ. But what is better than a BBQ with friends and family when the weather is so good? And what is better than a decent juicy burger? Continue reading
Happy weekend guys! And happy weekend cooking! Have you ever tried the Eggplant Lasagna Bolognese? I know that in the paleo / Whole30 community it’s already one of the typical cliches (still one of my favourites), but I still have friends and family asking me about this dish. So even if it’s not any mind-blowing novelty, I’ve still decided to share my own version of it. For me it’s a perfect weekend meal.
It looks like winter might be finally coming to Brisbane. After a long time we woke up to a cold and rainy day today. Well, the temperatures are still similar to an average summer in Czech Republic, so it’s not that bad. And not that I like it, but I guess we need the rain every now and then. And finally the cooler weather is a good excuse for me to cook more soups. So I’m gonna start the winter season with this Super Easy Leek And Sweet Potato Soup.
This easy recipe for Cauliflower Fried Rice is perfect for those who love the Asian cuisine but are watching the carbs a little bit. Or for people who are keen about the daily veggie intake. Or simply for those who want to try something different and eat healthy. It’s a great side dish but you can definitely have it by itself as a small meal too.
